In 2018 we planted Rouge De Bordeaux, a facultative wheat, (can be planted fall or spring, and does not need a vernalization period. This grain is a beautiful, awn less grain that has a copper colored appearance in the field. We used our typical spring hard red spring wheat production practices and we did get near 15% protein with this years crop. In some respects, in the field it resembles Red Fife, both in the awn less appearance as well as reduced yield.
